All SPD Owners are Former Petaluma Athletes

Rick Villarreal has been a Certified Personal Trainer for the past ten years. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a Level 1 USAW Weight Lifting Coach and USAW Sports Performance Coach. Once receiving a B.S. in Biology and a Minor in Exercise Science from University of California at Santa Barbara, he began training athletes in strength and conditioning. After furthering his background in Exercise Science at UC Davis, Rick’s attention turned into what he likes to call “prehab”. His focus was on injury prevention instead of rehabilitation. His philosophy is multi-joint, functional, and ground based movements which when taken through the proper range of motion create a flexible, durable, and dynamic athlete.

Excelling in both football and baseball, Justin Elsey was voted by Cal-Hi Sports as an all-state selection at wide receiver and was also drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He holds a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and was a player on the Sooner baseball team. He is a Level 1 USAW Weight Lifting Coach, a USAW Sports Performance Coach, and a SPARQ Certified Trainer.

Trent Herzog is a life long Petaluma resident and a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He has been a local coach in the area for the past 13 years and has helped his teams to a combined 98 wins and 39 losses. His defenses have helped to win 5 of the last 6 Sonoma County League Championships, played in two back to back North Coast Section Championship games, and have a better than 70% win average. In 2004, his defense gave up only 79 points in 13 games and posted 7 shut-outs. In the last five years, he has helped seven players to go on to play college football, three of which received Division 1 scholarships.
